What it is

Torque Release Technique, in plain language.

Torque Release Technique (TRT) is the method behind every adjustment we make at Landmark — for everyone who walks through the door. It's a low-force technique, developed and refined through clinical research.

Instead of depending on how hard a doctor can push by hand, TRT uses a small handheld instrument — the Integrator — to deliver a precise, measured adjustment exactly where it's needed, easing the areas of greatest tension in your spine and nervous system.

It isn't so much a way to manually stretch or realign the body as a way to gently stimulate the nervous system — helping it release tension so the body can do what it was designed to do: function, adapt, and self-correct.

Trained & certified

Torque Release Technique isn't something every chiropractor practices — it takes dedicated post-graduate training and certification to do it well. At Landmark, every adjustment is delivered by a chiropractor with Advanced Proficiency certification in the technique.

Why TRT

What sets it apart.

Precise, repeatable, safe, and effective — here's what each of those means in practice.

01

Precise

The Integrator targets the exact area that needs adjusting with a measured force — more specific than the hands alone can be.

02

Repeatable

Because it's instrument-delivered, the adjustment doesn't depend on a doctor's size or strength — it's identical whether a large man or a petite woman delivers it. You get the same precise care every visit.

03

Safe

Gentle enough for newborns and expecting moms, the adjustment is a quick, light pulse — many people say it sounds like the click of a pen.

04

Effective

From active adults to grandparents, TRT works with your nervous system to help the body function and adapt the way it's meant to — and it's been studied in published clinical research.

Common questions

The questions we hear most.

A few of the things families ask before their first adjustment — answered plainly.

Does a TRT adjustment hurt?

Not at all. The adjustment is a quick, light pulse from a small handheld instrument — many people say it feels like the click of a pen. There's no forceful twisting, cracking, or popping.

Will I hear a “crack” or “pop”?

No. There's no manual twisting involved, so there's nothing to pop. The Integrator delivers a fast, gentle impulse instead — most people are surprised by how light it feels.

Is it safe for my whole family?

Yes. Because it's low-force and precisely measured, it's gentle enough for newborns and expecting moms, and effective for active adults and grandparents alike. We care for every age the same careful way.

How is TRT different from regular chiropractic?

Most adjusting depends on how a doctor moves you by hand. TRT uses a small instrument — the Integrator — to deliver a specific, measured adjustment to the exact spot that needs it. Because it isn't powered by the doctor's size or strength, you get the same precise adjustment every visit, no matter who delivers it.

Do you provide manual adjustments?

Yes — when it's the right fit for you. Torque Release Technique is our primary method because it's gentle, specific, and consistent, but care is never one-size-fits-all. If your situation calls for a hands-on, manual adjustment, your chiropractor is trained and equipped to provide that too. The approach always follows what your body needs.

What does the adjustment actually do?

Rather than forcing the body into place, TRT gently stimulates the nervous system — helping it release tension so the body can do what it was designed to do: function, adapt, and self-correct.

Is there real research behind it?

Yes. Torque Release Technique was developed and refined through clinical research, and it's been studied in published trials. For us, that research is reassurance, not a sales pitch — it's part of why we trust the method enough to use it on every patient who walks through the door.
