New Patients · First Visit

Your first visit, built around understanding your body.

Most chiropractic first visits rush through an adjustment and say goodbye. Ours is different — thorough, calm, and built to actually understand what's happening with you before we recommend anything.

The Day 1 New Patient Experience

Your first visit, step by step.

From the moment you book to the plan you leave with — here's exactly how it works.

Step 01

New patient paperwork

Save time by completing your intake forms before you arrive, so your visit is spent with the doctor — not the clipboard. Bring your ID and insurance card, and wear something comfortable you can move in. Start your paperwork →

Step 02

We listen first

Your visit starts with your story, not a checklist. We take a complete health history — past injuries, current symptoms, your goals, and what brought you in. No rush. This conversation shapes everything that follows.

Step 03

A thorough evaluation

We look at how your body actually functions — posture, range of motion, and alignment — plus a nervous-system evaluation using our INSiGHT scan, which measures how well your nervous system is working. Objective data, not guesswork.

Step 04

Digital X-rays

To see is to know. Most people have never had a baseline set of spinal X-rays, so we take a clear digital set and build your care on what's actually there — not assumptions. Dr. Andrew never wants to guess with your health.

Step 05

Your report of findings

We sit down together and walk through what we found, in plain language. You'll see your X-rays, understand why you've been feeling the way you do, and know exactly what we recommend — before any commitment.

Step 06

Your personalized plan

Based on everything we found, we build a specific plan around your goals — not a generic protocol. You decide what makes sense. We're upfront about frequency, timeline, cost, and family plans that make caring for everyone practical.

An important note

Day 1 is the evaluation — not the adjustment. After your report of findings, you'll know exactly what we recommend and what the path forward looks like. Any treatment begins only after you've had time to decide what's right for you.

Common questions

Good to know before you come in.

How long does the first visit take?

Plan for about an hour. It's a thorough visit — we'd rather take the time to understand you properly than rush you through.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Not on Day 1. Your first visit is the evaluation — history, exam, X-rays, and your report of findings. We want to understand what's actually going on before recommending any care. Treatment starts at a follow-up visit, once you've seen the findings and decided what's right for you.

Does the adjustment hurt?

No. Dr. Oestreich uses Torque Release Technique — a gentle, low-force, instrument-assisted adjustment. Many people say it feels like a light click. It's the opposite of the aggressive cracking some people picture, and he'll walk you through everything before he does it.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept BCBS, Medicare, and United Healthcare, and we offer cash-pay and family care plans too. Not sure whether you're covered? Call us at 254-265-7007 and we'll check before your visit.

Do I need a referral to come in?

No referral needed — you can book directly. Just complete your new patient paperwork ahead of time and bring your ID and insurance card.

Is it safe for my kids and during pregnancy?

Yes. Dr. Oestreich is Webster-certified for prenatal care and ICPA and PX Docs certified for pediatric care. Care for kids and expecting moms is gentle and specifically adapted — and parents are always welcome to stay and ask questions throughout.
